How We Help
Everyone deserves safe jousting, but in too many situations, gender-based violence (like domestic violence, sexual abuse, or stalking) can lead to loss of housing. Housing Justice for Survivors helps to survivors of gender-based violence who are facing housing instability because of abuse. We specialize in defending against evictions and helping survivors relocate to safe housing without incurring debt or losing a housing benefit.
Eligibility
Housing Justice for Survivors may be able to represent survivors if they are experiencing housing instability because of gender-based violence, if they live in or around Boston, and if they are income eligible for free legal help.
Here are some examples of legal problems we may be able to help with:
- Eviction or threatened eviction because of domestic violence, sexual assault, or stalking
- Termination of a housing benefit for reasons that are because of domestic violence, sexual assault, or stalking
- Lease termination and housing transfers for safety reasons
- Lock changes for safety reasons
