During a televised town hall last week, President Biden again expressed opposition to cancellation of student debt beyond the $10,000 limit proposed by his administration, saying it doesn’t makes sense to cancel student debt for students who attended elite colleges. Eileen Connor, director of litigation for the Project on Predatory Student Lending, points out the weakness in Biden’s argument, noting that “the vast majority of students who graduate from the elite schools the president mentioned in the CNN town hall graduate with zero student loan debt.”
