Alexa Rosenbloom, an attorney and clinical instructor in LSC’s Consumer Protection Clinic since 2022, has been named as director of the Clinic following the retirement of Roger Bertling from that role in June.
“The Clinic does important work to protect Massachusetts consumers, and I look forward to working with student attorneys to continue the work and meet the challenges of today,” says Rosenbloom. “I have big shoes to fill but I’m excited for the challenge and hope to carry on Roger’s legacy.”
“We are thrilled that Alexa is taking on this new leadership role, where we know she will continue to excel in every respect,” says Daniel Nagin, LSC’s Faculty Director. “Alexa has done trailblazing work as a consumer law advocate and uniformly receives stellar reviews from her students for her tremendous skill as a teacher, supervisor, and mentor. We can’t wait to see all the inspired lawyering, teaching, and program building she will do in the years ahead.”
Prior to joining LSC, Alexa represented low-income clients at Greater Boston Legal Services (GBLS) for over nine years. She began her time there as a Skadden Fellow practicing disability rights law before transferring to the Consumer Rights Unit. For the next six years, she represented low-income consumers in a variety of matters including debt collection and foreclosure defense. She was an Arthur Garfield Hays fellow as a student at NYU Law School and clerked for a federal magistrate judge in the Eastern District of New York before starting her career as a legal services attorney.
“I feel prepared to take on the role I’m taking on because of working alongside Roger,” who supported her in being an integral part of running the clinic, she says. “I love working with my colleagues—students and instructors alike—and I’m excited to keep doing the same work.”
